The German Border, 1944 The German Army is full retreat after heavy defeat in Normandy. The Allied forces are sweeping across France and Belgium towards the German border, soon Germany itself will be invaded. To halt the Allied advance and buy time to rebuild their shattered forces, the German high command begin to rapidly reactivate and man the defences of the Westwall.

Throughout the autumn, the advancing US armies, delayed by supply shortages, will find themselves engaged in bitter fighting to breakthrough the lines of concrete bunkers, minefields and anti-tank obstacles. Whilst behind the Westwall, theremaining panzers forces re-arm, ready to fight again.

BACKGROUND

A general overview of the war along Germanyä western border in the autumn of 1944, as the US armies push their first troops onto German soil. From the US 1st Army's battles at the Aachen Gap and through the dank Huertgen Forest, to the US 3rd Army's tank battles in the Lorraine and capture of fortress-city of Metz.

ARMY LIST

Designed to be used with the US and German army lists already published in Battlegroup: Overlord Beyond Beaches, this books contains a new army list, for the fresh German panzer brigades deployed from September 1944, as well alterations to the German and US army lists for 1944, to better recreate the battles at Germany's border in the autumn of 1944.

SPECIAL RULES

New special rules to adapt the core Battlegroup game for battles against the Westwall in 1944. The special rules detail German bunker construction and defences along the Westwall as well as the hard fighting under the trees of the Huertgen Forest and the tank battles in the Lorraine between US armour and the newly formed panzer brigades.

This book requires Battlegroup: Overlord Beyond the Beaches to use full, including its Battle Rating counters.
