Highlight Maker Hoops (2022)

Overview

Highlight Maker Hoops is a Basketball sports-replay game that distils the action into the key highlights so a game can be completed in about 20 minutes. It uses a fast action card (FAC) system where each card drawn indicates what kind of action is taking place. Each quarter, you'll draw up to 10 FACs that generate scoring opportunities, rebound possibilities, free throws and player substitutions. Once you understand what each type of action does, the gameplay is pretty quick. Each FAC will usually ask you to check whether the active player on the home or away team has a particular quality. If they do, the team will either score on offence or prevent a score on defence. Once a quarter is completed, the number of scoring successes for each team will then generate a match score that tallies up with normal basketball scoring. After four quarters, if the scores are less than four apart, there is a Final minute phase where furious action can take place to derive a final score. Otherwise, if the score isn't close, you ignore the Final Minute phase.
