Expansion for Base-game

Overview

A new deck of 40 cards that adds the Missions and Decay mechanics to the game Missions and Corruption is package containing 40 mini-cards divided into 24 Mission cards and 16 Decay cards that adds two mechanics and a twist to the game. This package and the mechanics contained are usable in every player count, with different twists and applications.

Mission cards are cards with a specific request on them, be it to kill a candle, build a temple or control a specific region. By completing the request, the players can receive Victory Points to help them gain some edge in the war for the throne of Candelabria.

Every player will receive two Mission Cards at the beginning of a game, during Set-Up. One of the two cards is taken by the player in the form of a private mission, a secret objective that he needs to accomplish, while the other card is placed near the board and create a set of mission that all the players can access to. Two types of missions are available:

Yearly missions, which can be completed once a year. Ranking missions, where the reward can be taken by the first three players.

While the personal mission will award points only to the player that possess the mission, the common ones will be claimed through one of this methods. The idea behind this is to create a pool of changing milestones and objectives for the players to interact with, giving other ways to gather Victory Points and have fun while strategizing around that. This will help giving substance to the Turn Order too, since now the advantage for the first player would not only be to win draws but also the be able to complete an objective first, and thus giving some weight to the combat choices of getting initiative.

Decay cards are cards with specific effects, similar to tactics cards. Their usage, although, is different. Decay cards are received every time a player try to win influence over a Course but fails, during the combat phase. These cards are placed on the War Board and modify the effect on that until the current War Season is over, giving a new tactical asset and effects to the Houses. Decay is a mechanic with the intent to lessen the burden for a failed bet or wrong move on the Curse, by giving not an advantage but the chance to play around new effects and get a well-deserved revenge (with enough strategy and intelligence).
