Overview

Tatsu grew up in the Sengoku period, a time of constant war. A descendant of a noble clan, she was raised in Konomine Castle, and became one of the court ladies there.

Her life of privilege was interrupted when a large army led by Ouchi Teruhiro attacked the castle. With their lord and his army off on raids of his own, the defense of the castle fell to Lady Ichikawa. Knowing her few remaining warriors would not be enough, Lady Ichikawa armed Tatsu and the other court ladies and prepared them to defend the castle against Teruhiro's army.

Tatsu was only 17, and this was the first time she raised a sword. But to her surprise, she felt no fear in battle. Instead, a thrill energized her and she fought ferociously. After 10 long days of battle, Teruhiro's army fled, but not before Tatsu suffered a vicious gut wound.

The days that followed were pure agony as her wound festered. This continuous intense pain brought about her awakening in a thunderous blast of sound and force that left several dead and a hole in the castle wall.

Unaware of her sorcerer’s heritage, Tatsu was confused and frightened. She fled the castle, and was presumed dead.

In the years that followed, Tatsu was irresistibly drawn to the thrill of combat. The combination of an intense training regiment and the sorcerer’s power running through her veins made her a force to be reckoned with. In battle after battle her reputation grew, and she became a famous Onna-bugeisha.

Drawn by visions and nightmares she didn’t fully understand, Tatsu eventually left Japan. She met Li Xian, a Chinese sorcerer, and they sought out ancient artifacts connected to the Jade Emperor. On their centuries long quest, Tatsu found many items of great power and mastered long forgotten enchantments and alchemy.

Tatsu’s Character Deck is full of deadly attachments with the new “Concealed” mechanic that allows them to be played face-down. As a tactic, you can pay the attachment’s cost and reveal it, unleashing a powerful effect.
