Scoring with the Abbot. You place this tile, but choose to not place a meeple. Instead, you return your abbot to your supply, which you placed on a previous turn. You score 6 points (1 for the garden, and 5 for the tiles surrounding it).

Overview

The Abbot is a mini-expansion for Carcassonne introduced with the 2014 new-art edition. Each player gains a special abbot follower that can be placed on a monastery or a garden. Instead of placing a follower on a later turn, a player may retrieve their abbot and immediately score points equal to the monastery/garden tile plus each orthogonally adjacent tile at that moment. If the abbot remains on the board at game end, it scores like an incomplete monastery/garden.
