Overview

Kryptothera: The Cryptid Pursuit – Solo & Co-op Mode

Kryptothera: The Cryptid Pursuit – Solo & Co-op Mode expands the world of Kryptothera: The Cryptid Pursuit by introducing two alternative ways to play the game: a fully cooperative mode for four players and a dedicated solo mode for one player. Both modes are included in a single expansion box and use the core systems, components, and map of the base game.

The Kryptothera: The Cryptid Pursuit base game is required to play.

Solo Mode: The Descent (1 Player)

Solo Mode is designed as a complete single-player experience. One hunter faces the world alone, competing directly against the Order as it hunts cryptids, triggers events, and tightens its control over the map.

A dedicated solo event deck, influence system, and supporting components simulate an active opposing force, forcing the player to balance personal progress with containing the Order’s advance. Strategic choices become sharper, as every action carries greater weight and mistakes are harder to recover from.

Solo Mode focuses on efficiency, route planning, and threat prioritisation, offering a challenging and replayable way to experience Kryptothera without additional players.

Co-op Mode: United We Hunt (4 Players)

In Co-op Mode, four players join forces as a single expedition, working together to resist the spread of the Order’s influence. Players coordinate movement, share information, and plan actions collectively, balancing cryptid hunts against the need to contain escalating threats.

New co-operative event cards, systems, and components introduce global pressures that affect all players simultaneously. Success depends on careful timing, efficient use of shared resources, and deciding when to push deeper into dangerous territory versus when to regroup and stabilize the situation. Failure to manage the Order’s influence can bring the hunt to a premature end.

Co-op Mode emphasizes shared decision-making, long-term planning, and group risk management while preserving the exploration and tension of the base game.
