Overview

Defenders of Equestria is the name of the eighth set released for the My Little Pony Collectible Card Game.

American release: June 16, 2017

Defenders of Equestria has 142 new cards and full suite of two-color card support. It is booster-only (no theme decks).

142 unique cards were released as part of the main set:

7 Mane Characters, 89 Friends, 21 Events, 8 Resources, 7 Troublemakers, and 10 Problems.

In terms of rarity, the main set contains

60 Common (C) cards, 30 Uncommon (U) cards, 30 Rare (R) cards, 11 Super Rare (SR) cards, and 11 Ultra Rare (UR) cards

There are no Fixed (F) cards in this set, since there are no theme decks or other non-booster products for them to be found in.

There is a 1 in 3 chance for a Defenders of Equestria booster pack to contain a Super Rare, Ultra Rare, or Royal Rare card in place of a Common card.

In addition to the main set, there is also 1 Royal Rare (RR) parallel alternate-art full-card card. This Royal Rare (RR) version is a full-card (borderless) version of 1 Ultra Rare card found in the main set but is otherwise the same as its main set equivalent. There is a 1 in 216 chance for a Defenders of Equestria booster pack to contain a Royal Rare (RR) in place of a Common card (average of 1 per case of 6 booster boxes of 36 booster packs).

The promo set of 10 cards cannot be found in booster packs. All of these Promo (P) cards are alternate-art foiled versions of cards in the main set (none are unique to the promo set).
