Overview

Aetherdrift is a racing-themed expansion for Magic: The Gathering that takes place across three worlds: the aether-powered capital city of Avishkar, the undead-infested dunes of Amonkhet, and the volcanic jungles of Muraganda. Ten teams of racers compete for a one-of-a-kind trophy: the Aetherspark, an artifact imbued with the power of a planeswalker spark that allows its bearer to traverse the Blind Eternities without the need for a planar portal.

The set is packed with vehicles and mounts, and introduces the new "Start your engines!" mechanic, which allows players to build up speed over time to power up their cards. Two commander decks were also released alongside the main booster set: "Living Energy," themed around the energy mechanic and the plane of Avishkar (formerly known as Kaladesh); and "Eternal Might," themed around zombies and the plane of Amonkhet.
