Overview

An expansion, consisting of a supplemental rulebook and additional 200 counters, for SPI's game Tank! Armored Combat in the 20th Century!

"The Expanded Game modifies and builds on the Standard Tank! Game . . . The Expanded Game gives the Player more tools to work with. In most scenarios he will be able to use an off-map artillery capability . . . and, in some cases, supplement this with air strikes. Some scenarios provide for mounted infantry to accompany the the tank force . . . The Expanded Game provides for formation (platoon) movement . . . The heart of the Expanded Game lies in the Historical Period Chart and the greatly increased Weapons Characteristics Chart . . . [These] permit the player to create literally hundreds of individual scenarios featuring the major armored weapons systems from 1937 until the 1970's."

This expansion was available as a follow on purchase for owners of the original magazine issue (S&T 44) of the base game. It was also included in the flat tray version (Tank! Armored Combat in the 20th Century (SPI flat tray edition)) of the game as a combined set. While SPI generally produced their flat tray versions after the games were published in S&T magazine issues, the Tank! game is unusual in that this expansion was incorporated in the flat tray materials. The large majority of magazine issued games were simply reproductions of the game in the flat tray packaging for inclusion in SPI's ongoing games catalog.
