Overview

The valley hides many secrets, but only the most intrepid explorers can uncover them! Join one of two tribes — the Cherrygnawers or the Trailblazers — and explore unknown terrain, competing with your rival for the most valuable resources.

Each turn in Misty Valley, a player adds a valley tile to the playing area from the two on display or the top of the face-down stack; if you place a tile with footprints, you add an encounter tile from that stack, with each encounter showing a forest critter who has one or two demands. Next, place one of your three patrol tiles in hand next to one or more tiles in play. These patrol tiles show your tribe members on various edges, and if you now have more tribe members adjacent to a valley tile or encounter tile than the other tribe, mark that tile with one of your banners.

On a turn, you can move your captain figure to a tile that you control to add 1 to your tribe's strength on that tile. Additionally, you can play one of your three special abilities to rotate a tile, move a tile, play an additional tile, etc. (Each tribe has a double-sided board, and you choose a side — and abilities — before play begins.)

Once the final valley tile is placed, the opponent places a final patrol tile, then you tally points. The more valley tiles you control with the same resource, the more points you earn — and if you've satisfied the demands of an encounter, you earn bonus points for making a fellow critter happy. Whoever has the most points wins.
